Sean, I just ordered that film from TLA about a month ago and I absolutely loved it. Very well acted and the portrayals seemed both natural and universal.

Get Over It...another gay themed French film...is also good.

The French really seem to know how to do gay film well now that I think about it. Come Undone is another of my faves! (Stephane Rideau....grrrrowl!)

I see alot of gay films every year. O fantasma was one of the 10 worst films I have ever seen. If you like seeing a weird guy walk thru garbage dumps, this is the film for you.

I just saw one of the best films in YEARS. By far, the best gay-themed film I have seen. Mysterious Skin. I know it's a bit older, but I was beyond thoroughly impressed and moved.

I loved Just One Time. Guillermo Diaz is such a bloody cutey and it was a fun movie.

I'm not so sure what I thought of Mambo Italiano. Edge of 17 I did really like and I Think I do was fun.

Its been so so long since I saw Maurice. Really need to review it again.

I prefer edgy to saccharine [loved Urbania, and hate Big Eden with an irrational passion].

Not all of mine would be considered 'gay' films - but they all at least have a strong gay character:

Wild Reeds - One of the most honest coming of age films I've ever seen.
Beautiful Thing - I couldn't understand the accents, and the middle dragged ... but the final scene is absolutely beautiful.
Bad Education - By far my favorite Almodovar
Gods and Monsters - Awesome acting by Ian McKellan & Brendan Frasier.
Capote - More awesome acting
Suddenly, Last Summer - Katherine Hepburn attempts to have Elizabeth Taylor lobotomized to cover up the horrible truth about her son ...

Edge of Seventeen has sentimental value to me. Watching it is like watching my own teenage coming out story, right down to the hair, clothes, and music. Even being underage and in the bars with friends who were older and like my "gay parents".
