i just got this note recently from my friend john cameron mitchell, of hedwig and the angry inch...
his new movie 'shortbus' is out... see it pass the word... you won't be disapointed...lots of sex too...

hey all, jcm here, just wanted to give you a "Shortbus" heads-up (sorry if
you get more than one of these). We've been doing a lot of work this summer
getting trailers, posters, etc, together for our imminent and full release by
the fantastic Thinkfilm.
The Theatrical (censored) Trailer and the new Uncensored Trailer (woo hoo!)
are now up on _www.shortbusthemovie.com_ (www.shortbusthemovie.com/)
(full site with bells and whistles coming soon courtesy of Crew Creative and
Sean Belman). You can also find all trailers on _www.ifilm.com_
(www.ifilm.com/) . I'd love if anyone and everyone could spread this information
around on your email lists or post it in chat rooms, blogs, myspace, bathroom
walls (hey, that's an idea, with a rubber stamp made of a potato!). We need
all the help we can get since we're such a little tiny movie.
Interesting dates:
Sept 10 - North American Premiere, Toronto Film Festival, - followed by a
big concert party (see our site for tickets).
Oct. 4 - New York release at the Landmark Sunshine
Oct 6 - LA and SF release
Oct. 12 Wash DC / Reel Affermations opening nite
Oct. 13 through Nov - we expand across N. America
Come opening weekend cause that means we stay in the theaters longer!
Our soundtrack will come out in late October. We're thrilled to be released
by Team Love which is run by Nate Krenkel and Conor Oberst of the band Bright
Eyes. They're the love-liest!

Sun, September 24, 2006 - 5:27 AMSee, it's real funny that Wisconsin is a "Fly Over" state... right after Toronto, this had it's US debut at the Milwaukee LGBT Film/Video Festival.
Its fabulous!!!! Amazing!!! Hot, kinky, dragy, bi-omni-homosexy. I won't spoil too much of it, but i really loved the plasticine models of NYC. And one of the cool parts is that the cast helped co-write the film. It made me think of a Cockettes production.
Anyway, Sizzle, thanks for mentioning it. I had spaced it's awesomeness.

Mon, September 25, 2006 - 11:23 AMThe New York Times just reviewed it over the weekend, it was more a techincal review rather than whether it was good or not.
But that said ... I was part of the first US audience to see it (I guess Milwaukee isn't "interesting" enough to make it on the "interesting dates" list!! ha!) and loved it, especially because I wanted to see how much different it would be than Hedwig, and just simply because i'll venture to say that it will set the bar very high for future films of this nature.
i'm sure there will be controversy on the graphic nature of the sex scenes (no complaints from me, though!!) and since parts of the Milwaukee audience weren't terribly sophisticated (there were audible gasps and laughter at the naked appearance of someone who has a large body type ... i felt embarassed by this...) it was easy to see in some places where less well-rounded audiences might throw a fit or get freaked out.
go see it when it comes to a theater near you ... in a word, awesome! -
