In DAMNED IF YOU DON'T (Outfest 1988) Su Friedrich investigates the themes and connections between women, sexuality, personal relationships and religion in an innovative and graceful film that addresses a taboo subject: a young nun and her sexual attraction to another woman. Winner of the OUTstanding Documentary Feature in 1997, HIDE AND SEEK explores the fertile terrain of lesbian childhood and prepubescence in a 12-year-old girl living in Brooklyn in the mid 1960s.

When Samantha leaves her, Allegra rebounds with handsome philosophy professor Phillip (Justin Kirk, Angels in America) as well as the irresistibly beautiful, recently single Grace (Gretchen Mol, The Notorious Bettie Page). Allegra juggles secret relationships with both of them, never suspecting that Philip and Grace have a connection of their own. 25 Films That Changed Our Lives
In celebration of our 25th anniversary we are identifying 25 LGBTQ films that most touched audiences around the world. From December 15th - February 15th visitors (see link below) are invited to name the LGBTQ films that changed their lives and why. Outfest will announce the top 25 films and showcase selections at Outfest 2007 and year-round at the Outfest Wednesdays Screening Series.

Outfest 2007 - Film/Video Call for Submissions
Outfest 2007: The 25th Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, July 12-23
Early Submission Deadline: January 26, 2007
Final Submission Deadline: March 9, 2007

Filmmakers are invited to submit completed narrative, documentary, experimental and animated films and videos (features and shorts). Outfest 2007 will feature the most extensive filmmaker awards program of any LGBTQ film festival, bestowing 15 awards for film and video excellence including the $5,000 HBO Outstanding First Narrative Feature Award. As the only LGBTQ film festival in the heart of the entertainment industry, Outfest offers comprehensive services for emerging filmmakers to forge connections in Hollywood.
